Ask A Librarian Rules And Policies

Questions should be about a specific piece of information (dates, facts, spelling of a name, etc.), or to verify citations, or for suggestions on an appropriate electronic or print resource to find information for your research project or paper.

Please be clear and concise, and be specific in what you are looking for. Please include any sources you have already consulted.

We reserve the right to refuse to answer questions.

We may refuse services to you if we determine that you are not using our services in the way in which they were intended to be used. This includes, but is not limited to, questions that are harrassing, libelous, threatening, harmful, obscene or objectionable, or that violate any applicable local, state, national, or international laws or regulations.

All reference questions are confidential.

Your question will enter the public domain, and you will retain no ownership rights to your question. This means that anyone, including the library can reproduce, copy, modify or otherwise use your question without your permission. In addition, your question may be displayed, distributed, transmitted and broadcast without your permission. No identifying or personal information will ever accompany your question.

We will respond to questions submitted online as soon as possible, typically within a business day, and usually sooner.
